As the Department of Psychology at University of Illinois has grown, so has its need for additional space. This commission involved a study for an expansion of the Psychology Building as well as the reconfiguration of its existing interiors spaces. The new structure will house additional classroom/ lecture spaces on the first two levels, expanded administration on the third level (including new areas for undergraduate advising), and faculty offices and research suites on upper levels. The building’s central atrium will be reprogrammed as a new social center for the department and will incorporate a dynamic new stairway linking the first three public floors. Crowning the addition will be a new conference center/ symposium space with panoramic views of the main campus quadrangle.
