This project is a new mixed-use building on a vacant corner lot in the heart of Washington DC’s historic Shaw neighborhood. The bottom two stories are a new home for the highly regarded Burmese restaurant Mandalay of Silver Spring Maryland. Above the restaurant are two stories of residences. The project involved coordination with the Office of Historic Preservation and the neighborhood advisory council. The design integrates elements of historic brick structures from the surrounding neighborhood with more contemporary elements of metal and glass.
